• Make sure your antivirus is not expired. Keep your antivirus with the most current virus definitions
   
• Defrag your hard drive at least once a month
   
• To help prevent cracking DC jack: while moving your laptop, make sure that you unplug the ac adapter
   
• Clean out temporary Internet files
   
• Use add/remove programs to uninstall a program. Do not just move programs to the recycle bin
   
• Always create backup media of ALL important information
   
• Keep all disks (programs: Office, Quick books, Antivirus, Restore Disks, etc) in a safe place. Never throw away your program disks
   
• To prevent motherboard overheating, never place your computer in areas with no ventilation.
   
• Downloading (music, movies,etc.) - be aware that it is very easy to download a virus from any peer to peer(P2P) programs. Files downloaded may also contain other files that can infect your computer with viruses. Also be aware of copyright infringement when downloading music or movies.
